With
this epic hard ambient house opener Andy
tips his hat to Lucien Foort and transports us
to new frontiers. Like scaling the brow of a mountain
peak and seeing a vast undiscovered continent
spread out before you.

Best
described as deep quirky house, the irresistible
rhythmic undertow and irrepressible humour of
this track has music lovers of all persuasions
heading for the dancefloor.
|
 |
This
progressive exposition of spacey industrial
trance really does take you on a journey
of the mind, through sound.

We
can't say too much about this one, or the name
of the iconic svengali on vocals, as we're still
in the process of sample clearance. Suffice
to say, this percussive jazzy tech house
gem insists that you dance, and opens a
portal to another musically revolutionary realm.

Hatstandy
Andy's fun-filled dancefloor stomper "Stringy
Things" is featured on Colchester Recordings'
wide ranging compilation of 17 eclectic artists.
"Stringy Things" spent many weeks
at No. 1 on KarmaDownload's Dance Chart,
and they've described Hatstandy Andy as their
"tip for the future."
Queep Organic Music said "it is very easy
to see why, 'Stringy Things' became so popular
with the KarmaDownload visitors. It could create
so many new feelings for clubbers, and at the
same time, recreate a lot of older ones..... if
you listen, you`ll know what we mean..."

Hatstandy Andy a.k.a. Andy Turner began his evolution
through a total immersion in the Free Party scene in
Dorset and an area he fondly refers to as 'The South West
Country'…
Whilst assimilating a vast range of influences and
elements which colour the dance music spectrum, he came to
prominence at clubs and rave parties under the name 'The
Phat Controller'. Defying conventional wisdom, Andy blew
audiences away with his literally 'Live' P.A.s by
simultaneously playing lead parts live on synths and
controlling a raft of midi instruments and sequencers
manually, to produce a unique, hypnotic, Acid Trance
sound.
In 2002 Andy 'emigrated' to London to steep himself in the
mystical art of studio production. A year later a blinking
creature emerged from a cocoon at Point
Blank, London ready to flex powerful new wings…
and so Hatstandy Andy, as we now know him, was born.
Artfully flying below the radar for another year,
Hatstandy has been busy pillaging and subverting the
underground dance music ingredients that mean most to him,
combining them in improbable measures and suffusing them
with his unique creative spice to produce the
groundbreaking, soon to be released, 'Freestyle'
E.P.

People already have a lot to say about Hatstandy Andy
and his Freestyle approach but before we get to that,
let's hear it from the horse's mouth... "I would
describe the style of dance music I do to be Freestyle,
incorporating many genres, but basically producing exactly
what I want to hear. I write music for me, which I find
the best way to get a genuine sound. I think I can get
that Freestyle element into my music and give a release to
those that see the current scene as being a bit too
serious... no harm ever came of things being stirred up a
little".
The people at Queep
Organic Music have been quick to pick up
on the scope of Andy's vision, they say "His
overall package of current tracks could be played
played by a pretty wide range of DJs. Some could
be played by House or Trance, as well as Tech or
Prog jocks". |

In
many ways it's a testament to the the time
Hatstandy has spent living the life on both
sides of the decks that he is now gathering the
praise and respect he so richly deserves. In
March 2003 Computer
Music Magazine featured Hatstandy track
'Kennington Station' on their cover CD. Whilst
being simultaneously bewildered and excited by
this lunatic pre-cursor of the shape of things
to come, they were impressed by his "manic
blend of crazy, dance oriented synth riffs and
atmospheric vocal effects" and the
"smooth …very emotive progressions"
and went on to describe Andy's music as "on
it's way to bigger and better things" How
right they were!
Future
Music Magazine have also been following
Hatstandy's progress with great interest &
have been equally intrigued and in a quandry
about how to best describe what they've been
listening to. In August '03 they said of
Hatstandy Andy's music "this is all over
the place style wise but that's not a bad
thing". In February 2004 they highlighted
'Sonorous Excursion' and had this to say
"It's not trance, it's not IDM but some
kind of oddly successful fusion of several
genres. Good stuff".
Hatstandy's track 'Stringy Things' (also
featured on the soon-to-be released Freestyle
E.P.) has been getting a lot of attention
from visitors to online trader wwww.karmadownload.com
and hit No.1 in the dance chart. Karmadownload
describe him as their "tip for the
future". As Queep
Organic Music so aptly points
out "it is very easy to see why 'Stringy
Things' became so popular"..."It
could create so many new feelings for
clubbers, and at the same time, recreate
a lot of the older ones...if you listen,
you'll know what we mean".

The
'Freestyle' philosophy is one which is
shared by all involved at Stable Table
Records, and whilst label-mates ONE
LEGGED HORSE and McVICKY
are hot on his heels with their own genre-busting
interpretations of what that means, HATSTANDY
ANDY is leading the charge into unchartered
musical territory as Freestyle's chief
exponent. Stay tuned for details of the
HATSTANDY ANDY 'FREESTYLE' E.P. due for
release on the 'Stable Table' label in
the very near future.
